'The Smoldering Gun'

Sample Book Chapter

The first chapter of a book I'm writing.

It's a post-apocalyptic western. There's an orphan (like there are in most good stories), an old woman called 'the Gun-witch' and a touch of magic.

This chapter introduces several characters. It focuses on a gang of bad men who ride into a mining town, convinced they can bully the inhabitants.

It doesn't work out too well for them.

'America's Dreaming'

Sample Comic Script

Eight pages from a spec comic script I wrote focused on Captain America.

Over the years, I've gathered a collection of 'if I was given the reins of 'x' comic book I would do 'y''. This is one of my favourites. I've always had a soft spot for decent characters.  The people who want to do the right thing no matter the cost.

And they don't come more decent than Steve Rogers.

'At Midnight,
the World Ended'

Story Outline for Indy Game

A  game proposal for a small, independent horror game.

The player takes on the role of an average person living on the 23rd floor of an apartment complex. One night, they wake to find the world outside has changed and their building has turned dark and malicious. The game follows them as they try to escape to the bottom floor.

An outline focused on characters, themes, levels and other good stuff. About death and our fear of it.

Twine Interactive Story

A short interactive story using Twine2.

The setting is... sort of Earth. And... sort of during the Bronze Age.  A young Hittite woman survives an earthquake and leaves her village looking for help.

The idea of 'a doom' always interested me.  In the original, Greek, meaning of the word, a doom is a disastrous ending. But one a character has invited.  A characteristic such as pride, vanity, or even simple curiosity leads to a fate befalling them.

The protagonist has their own doom waiting for them - partially because of who they are but also because the player WANTS to put them in harms way. Otherwise there wouldn't be a game...
